Ecologies of Inception: Designs potentials on a warming planet by Simone Ferracina published by Routledge in 2022

Humans have utilized raw materials for - ever actually. We love art and to create useful vessel for our food, survival, warfare, and entertainment. It's how we shelter ourselves and brings us comfort.

Since the industrial revolution, we are still following the tabula rasa concept of form from matter at an increasing and alarming  rate.  The prevailing thought of designing are way out of it may not be enough. Can we upcycle, recycle, downcycle our way out of the heap? Or as this book offers, a new perspective about our stuff?

Mr. Ferracina's elegant writing balances out the academic qualities of this book to offer useful questions and solutions to the pressing issues about today's climate emergency and our mountains of stuff. Join us on this podcast for a most interesting conversation - with your cuppa coffee of course!

Simone Ferracina is the founding director of Exaptive Design Office (EDO) and a Lecturer in Architectural Design/Detail at the Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (ESALA), The University of Edinburg.
